The Scrolling Capture feature allows users to take screenshots of entire web pages or applications, even if the content extends beyond the visible area of the screen.
This feature is particularly useful for capturing long documents, web pages, or any other content that requires scrolling to view in its entirety.

How the Feature Works in MacOS
- Initiating the Capture:
- Click the “More” option in Zight’s main screen and choose the “Scrolling screenshot” option.
- Note that you can reorder the actions on that screen if you want to use Scrolling screenshots often!
- An overlay will be present over your current screen, click and drag to select the scrolling part of a page. Important : make sure your selection is within the scrollable area of a page to avoid repeated parts
- Click the “More” option in Zight’s main screen and choose the “Scrolling screenshot” option.
- Scrolling Mechanism:
- The app will automatically scroll the area within the selected region.
- As long as your cursor is within the selected area, the app will scroll. This is useful if you only want to capture part of a page, you just have to remove your cursor and click “Done” to complete the capture.
- Preview and Editing: After capturing, the screenshot will be uploaded to the browser for preview or shown in the bottom right party of your screen so you can quickly drag and drop it anywhere or click on annotate. The link will be in your pastboard, ready to share!
Pro-tips
- Avoid videos or animations
- Please refrain from scrolling, it will happen automatically
How the Feature Works in Chrome
- Open the Zight Chrome extension
- Click on “Screenshot”
- With your keyboard, select “E”
- The app will scroll the full page on its own
- Once the full page is captures, a new browser page will open with your screenshot, and the link will be in your pastboard, ready to share!
Potential Questions
What happens if accessibility permission is not granted?
- The feature will prompt the user to grant accessibility permission. If denied, the user will see an error notification with options to cancel or open system settings to enable the permission.
Can I use this feature in applications other than Chrome?
- Currently, the feature is supported in Chrome, but we are working on expanding support to other applications.
Is there a way to preview the captured screenshot?
- Yes, after capturing, the screenshot will be uploaded to the browser for preview. You can annotate, edit, or share the screenshot from the preview window.
Can I assign a shortcut for scrolling capture?
- Yes, you can set up a shortcut for scrolling capture. By default, no shortcut is assigned, but you can configure one in the settings.
What if the captured image is too large?
- The feature is designed to handle large images, but usability may decrease if the image becomes excessively tall.
Troubleshooting
Nothing is happening when I click on Scrolling screenshots. It’s not scrolling.
There is a known issue on a few users that is being fixed in macOS Sonoma 15.1. This has been If you have a Logitech mouse
The bottom of my screenshot is missing.
There is a known issue where 1/5th is missing on Intel in most cases.
Try a different selection (ie: smaller)
I see things that are repeated in my captures
Don’t capture scrollbars, or “fixed” elements like chatbots
