How Do I Pause/Resume a Video Recording

Sometimes while recording it’s useful to pause. Here are a few examples:

  • Taking a Break
    Especially during long recordings, you might pause to rest your voice, hydrate, or regain energy.
  • Technical Adjustments
    To fix audio/video issues, adjust lighting, reposition the camera, or check the microphone.
  • Script or Outline Check
    If you're following notes or a script, pausing gives you time to review the next part without fumbling on camera.
  • Environmental Interruptions
    To wait out noise (e.g., sirens, construction), unexpected interruptions, or people walking into the room.
  • Changing Scenes or Props
    If your video requires different backgrounds, clothing, props, or camera angles, pausing lets you transition smoothly.

Here’s how to access the Pause/Resume button in Zight:

Go to your recording control. It looks like this:

Click on the red icon to the left, and a sub-menu will appear:

Click on the Pause button. A pop-up will appear showing the paused recording.

To unpause, just click Resume.
