Zight can help eligible customers move their Loom library into a Zight workspace. After your Zight team enables migration access, you’ll install a Chrome extension, connect your Zight and Loom accounts, and start the migration.
The migration tool copies your Loom videos, screenshots, titles, sharing settings, and folders into Zight. You can pause, resume, and safely retry the migration if needed.
Note: Loom migration access is currently available by request for eligible Zight customers and is enabled by Zight Support or Customer Success. If you do not have access yet, contact your Zight account team or Support before starting.
Need migration access? Contact your Zight account team or Zight Support before starting. You can also review the Loom to Zight migration overview.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Google Chrome installed.
- Access to the private Zight Loom migration Chrome extension.
- The Google account that Zight added for extension access.
- Access to the Zight workspace where your Loom content should be imported.
- Access to the Loom account or workspace you want to migrate.
- Time to keep Chrome open while the migration runs. Large Loom libraries can take a while because each full video file is copied.
Step 1: Install the Chrome extension
- Open the Chrome Web Store link provided by Zight while signed into Chrome with the Google account that has migration access.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Pin the extension to your Chrome toolbar so it is easy to find.
If Chrome says the extension is unavailable, confirm that you are signed into Chrome with the same Google account that Zight enabled for migration access.
Step 2: Connect your Zight account
- Click the Zight Loom migration extension icon.
- Click Log into Zight.
- Sign in to Zight.
- Confirm the extension shows your account as connected.
- Make sure the connected Zight workspace is the paid workspace where your Loom content should be imported.
If the wrong Zight account or workspace is connected, log out and start fresh before continuing.
Step 3: Connect your Loom account
- In the extension, click Connect Loom.
- Sign in to Loom.
- Confirm the extension shows Loom as connected.
Step 4: Start the migration
- Click Start / Resume.
- Keep Chrome open while the migration runs.
- You can close the extension popup; the migration continues in the background.
- Use the progress bar to track how many items have transferred.
If your computer sleeps or Chrome is closed, the migration pauses. When you reopen Chrome or wake your computer, the migration can resume.
What gets imported into Zight
| Imported into Zight | Notes |
|---|---|
| Videos | Full Loom video files are copied into Zight. |
| Screenshots | Loom screenshots are copied into Zight. |
| Titles | Loom item titles are preserved where possible. |
| Sharing settings | Public, organization, and private sharing settings are copied where supported. |
| Folders | Loom folders become Zight collections. |
What does not get imported
Some Loom metadata is not available for Zight to copy.
| Not imported | Notes |
|---|---|
| Descriptions | Descriptions do not transfer. |
| Transcripts | Loom transcripts do not transfer. |
| View counts | View history does not transfer. |
| Comments and reactions | Comments and reactions do not transfer. |
| Created dates | Original Loom creation dates do not transfer. |
| Tags | Tags do not transfer. |
| Folder nesting | Collections in Zight are flat. Nested Loom folders are not recreated as nested collections. |
| Passwords | Password-protected Loom videos are imported without the password because Loom does not expose it. |
How folders become collections
Loom folders are imported as Zight collections. Zight collections are flat, so nested Loom folders are simplified.
For example, a Loom video inside Sales / Onboarding / QBR is added to a Zight collection named QBR.
If multiple Loom folders have the same name, they may be merged into the same Zight collection.
Pause, resume, and retry
You can pause and resume the migration at any time.
If an item fails or is skipped, click Start / Resume again. The tool automatically skips items that already migrated and retries items that still need attention.
If you need to retry skipped items too, select also retry skipped items and run the migration again.
If something goes wrong
Try these steps first:
- Click Start / Resume again.
- Confirm you are connected to the correct Zight workspace.
- Confirm you are connected to the correct Loom account or workspace.
- Keep Chrome open and let the migration continue.
- If items still fail, click Download report in the extension.
Send the downloaded report to Zight Support or your account team. The report includes the detected Zight workspace, Loom workspace, extension version, migration counts, and per-item reasons for skipped or failed items.
Frequently asked questions
Can I migrate my Loom videos into Zight?
Yes. Eligible Zight customers can use the Zight Loom migration workflow to copy Loom videos and screenshots into a Zight workspace.
Do I need to give Zight my Loom password?
No. The current migration workflow runs in your browser. You connect to Loom and Zight yourself through the Chrome extension.
Can I safely run the migration more than once?
Yes. Items already migrated into the same Zight workspace are recognized and skipped, so re-running the migration only picks up missing or failed items.
Do Loom folders transfer?
Yes, but with limits. Loom folders become Zight collections. Nested folder structure is flattened.
Do Loom comments, reactions, transcripts, and view counts transfer?
No. Loom comments, reactions, transcripts, view counts, tags, and original created dates do not transfer.
What happens to password-protected Loom videos?
Password-protected Loom videos are imported without the password because Loom does not expose the password to Zight. These items are listed in the migration report so you can re-protect them in Zight if needed.
What should I do if the extension says it is unavailable?
Make sure you are signed into Chrome with the Google account that Zight enabled for migration access. If it still does not work, contact Zight Support or your account team.
