Where is my data stored? Where is my data hosted?

Cloud storage is automatically enabled for all users, whether free or paid. When you record a video, capture a screenshot, or share a file, the video, audio, and chat text are uploaded into the Zight Cloud. The files are stored in data centers managed by Amazon Web Services.

After the files are uploaded they can be downloaded to a computer or streamed from a browser. To manage your captured content (videos, screenshots, gifs, files) or share a link with others, you can find your content in two places:

1) Accessible directly from your desktop app

  • You can manually download all your content as shown in the image below:

  • You can also set a local folder by default to automatically save a copy of all your videos. This is only for video content for now.
    • To enable this option, in your client version go to Settings, and then to the "Recording" tab.
    • Check the box that says "save video recording to:"
    • Select your preferred local folder by pressing the "change folder" button. Once you've selected your folder, its address will appear in the text field to the right of the "save recording to" check.

2) Accessible directly from the web

  • Log into your account and navigate to the Dashboard page.

Zight also offers a second uploading option, Custom Storage. Custom Storage saves the files to your Amazon S3 bucket.  If you'd like to read more about the Data Centers and Security Practices we follow, you can read about them here.
